SFS intec were able to supply the complete package including deck fixings, telescopic fastenings for insulation and weather membrane, lap tapes and mastics.
Together with Corus, SFS intec has developed the SDK as a "smart fastener" which ensures that the quality of the roofing is inherent in the fastener itself, rather than being dependent on the installation.
John McGrevey of roofing contractor Grainger Building Services commented, "We were happy to use the Corus recommendation as this ensured it was fixed correctly to minimise long term problems." The new school uses a twin skin over purlin construction comprising a liner sheet fastened to steel purlins, a Kalzip vapour control membrane and 240mm of insulation.
The risers to support the standing seam 0.9mm aluminium roof were fastened direct to the purlins.
The roof insulation used 100mm and 140mm layers of Kalzip's new Insulation Plus 37 glass fibre quilt with high thermal performance.
As well as the complex roof shape, particularly around the two storey entrance/ assembly hall areas with several different pitches and numerous valleys, Vitral rooflights were used throughout the building to provide an energy efficient light source.
