For a major new Tesco Superstore at Dingwall, north of Inverness, the low pitch single span roof used Ward's Topdek pre-engineered roof deck system Comprising a high performance Trocal single ply PVC outer membrane with a Trocal S finish and 80mm of PIR foam, the roof was fixed to purlins using specially developed SFS intec fasteners

"The new SFS self-coring fasteners were specified by Ward Insulated Panels," commented John McGrevey of Grainger Building Systems, the roofing contractor.

"We had used the traditional 3 stage fixing process before but the new one operation fastener saved us up to two-thirds of the installation time".

The new Tesco store at Dingwall, which was constructed on an archaeological site that was carefully investigated before building commenced, serves a very wide community in Northern Scotland.

The Topdek roof system is a built up membrane roofing system which was specified with 80mm of PIR foam to provide sufficient insulation in the local climate and minimise heat loss despite the internal temperatures required for a comfortable store environment.

Its lightweight is ideal for economic applications in large spans, it is rapid and easy to fix in one single operation.
