Specialist metalwork fabricator Arkoni has created a stylish exterior glass canopy from the architect's concepts for a prestigious new Sheffield city centre hotel, using an advanced fixing system from SFS intec.

The 7300mm x 5880mm canopy at the Macdonald St.

Paul's Hotel provides a cover over the main entrance to the £20 million landmark building which is located in the heart of Sheffield city centre.

The 161 room hotel is one of Macdonald Hotels' most ambitious recent developments and its construction marks an important step forward in Sheffield's bid to become a key business and leisure destination.

Halifax-based Arkoni was appointed to design, manufacture and install the glass canopy by Bowmer and Kirkland .

It manufactured the canopy using 17.5mm toughened laminated clear glass and the AS spider arms and AO Flex 45 countersunk fittings from SFS intec.

The SFS intec glass and canopy fixing systems are perfectly suited to applications of this type, along with numerous other exterior and interior features.

The single, bevel and flush point fixings are designed to bring exciting architectural and interior design concepts to life, with their perfect surface finished manufacture in high-grade stainless steel adding a further aesthetic dimension.
