Roof at The Orchard Centre, new shopping facility in Didcot, was fastened with SFS intec

The Orchard Centre is a new town centre shopping facility accessible by foot, bus or car, and has been built by Norwest Holst on previously developed land to revitalise the centre of Didcot, Oxfordshire The high standards of construction, backed by a 10 year warranty, were essential to ensure that the investment by LXB Properties maintains its value, so for all the fastenings and ancillary details, contractors Advanced Roofing and Flooring turned to SFS intec

"For the complete fastening and sealing package I turned to SFS intec," commented Mark Dodd, Project Leader at Advanced Roofing and Flooring.

"They were able to supply over half a million items including deck fixings, telescopic fastenings for insulation and weather membrane, lap tapes and mastics".

"Having this level of essential detail taken care of means I can concentrate on larger problems".

The 16,500 sq.m roof at The Orchard Centre comprised Corus D35 Deck, overlaid with a vapour barrier, 150mm of Duorock mineral wool insulation and Alkorplan single ply waterproof membrane.

SFS intec self-drilling SD3 fasteners were used to fix the decking to beams.

SFS TK fasteners with nylon telescopic tubes were specified to fix the insulation and the waterproof membrane to the steel deck, while providing a thermal break to assist meeting Part L standards for energy efficiency.
