Fastener quality key for Sovereign
The Sovereign Group have decided to continue using only austenitic stainless steel fasteners from SFS intec in its social housing contracts.
Alan Bigwood, of roofing and cladding contractors Allmass Cladding commented: "Having virtually all the fastening detail taken care of from one source, SFS intec, greatly simplified the specification and installation of this project".
The roof to the warehouse section of the building is constructed from Kingspan KS 1000RW PIR composite panels, in Albatross white, at 80mm thickness, through-fixed to purlins with SFS intec SXTP self drilling fasteners.
The roof design also incorporates Kingspan GRP rooflights, roof access hatches and mansafe personnel roof safety systems.

Other detail incorporated includes the Kingspan built-up parapet with membrane- lined guttering and a siphonic drainage rainwater system.
Over the office accommodation, a built-up roof system was incorporated to increase the insulation values to meet Part L2 energy efficiency / emission standards.
This used 140mm mineral wool slabs over metal decking and the weatherproof envelope was provided by a single ply membrane.
Here SFS intec austenitic steel TK telescopic fasteners were used to provide mechanical fastening of the membrane through the insulation seams to the deck.
The wall cladding systems, incorporating fire resistant mineral wool insulation composite panels, were fixed with profiles in horizontal and vertical orientations to break up the elevations of the building, with additional variation in panels of different colours - Sirius blue, Orion grey and white.
Here SFS intec SXC14 austenitic stainless steel fasteners were used to fasten the cladding panels to the wall framing bars.
Further detail for the office section included door and window glazing and canopy, and the rear elevation incorporated vehicle access doorways.
