New SFS intec Top Hat to Deck fastener provides fast, secure single action fastening of top hat spacers to section structural decking, removing the need for pre-drilling, placing and riveting.

The new SFS intec Top Hat to Deck fastener provides fast, secure single action fastening of top hat spacers to section structural decking in one operation, removing the need for pre-drilling, placing and riveting.

The fasteners are designed so they cannot be overdriven and stripped out.

No special tooling is required and top hat spacers for standing seam and secret fix roofs can be fastened in one action, halving on-roof fixing time compared to bulb rivets.

The new SFS intec Top Hat to Deck fastener comprises a self-drilling screw fastener designed with a wide-pitch thread, a no-threaded 'free spin' section and a specially pre-sprung washer, all in austenitic stainless steel.

When fastening an acoustic roof, e.g top hat to structural deck (up to 1.6mm thick), the fastener is placed and drilled through the top hat and decking material until the 'free spin' section is reached.

The pre-sprung washer then pulls the head against the wide pitch thread, producing a very secure joint every time, in one application of the self-drilling tool.

Commented SFS intec Product Manager, Peter Hamby: "We have discussed and developed our unique Top Hat to Deck fastener with systems, roofing materials manufacturers and several leading contractors,".

"They all consider it will significantly reduce contract time, while ensuring excellent fixing performance".

"It's like our A+ pink butyl sealant with a 25 year warranty, we like to ensure the hidden fixings and accessories in the Security package are as effective as the main roofing system.".
