Low profile hex head fastener off-site frames

A SFS intec product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 12, 2008

With an ever growing demand for Off-Site construction, SFS intec have launched the SD-LH range of self-drilling fasteners.

The versatile fixings have low profile hex heads which ensure easy over attachment of wall boards and insulation panels.

The SFS SD5-LH and SD14-LH fasteners are designed for light (up to 2mm) and heavy steel section (up to 14mm) framing and to fasten frames to structural steel.

The specially designed drilling point and cutting screw ensure rapid penetration and secure fixing to the correct torque.

"There are some big challenges facing off-site construction at the moment" says the SFS intec Pitched Roof Product Manager, Peter Hamby: "And production line techniques are a major cost saving benefit.

A one-shot drill and fix operation means fast work, and the ability to fasten to structural steels is a real benefit".

The SD-LH range features low profile (2.2mm) hexagon heads which enable them to be driven with standard hex drivers.

The slim head profile means that panels and boards can be fixed over the frame with minimum intrusion from the heads, and also minimise any thickness build up in confined spaces.
