Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, Combat Stress called on SGB Rovacabin to demonstrate how temporary modular accommodation could meet their needs and requirement for fast installation.

SGB Rovacabin's advanced modular building design service has helped to deliver essential counselling facilities at Tyrwhitt House, a rehabilitative treatment centre for ex-military personnel run by the Ex-Services Mental Welfare Society, Combat Stress.

When the need for extra counselling rooms arose, Combat Stress called on SGB Rovacabin to demonstrate how temporary modular accommodation could meet their needs and requirement for fast installation.

Ray Salmons at Combat Stress comments: "We knew that extra treatment space was required at Tyrwhitt House but were unaware of the potential of a temporary modular building".

"Once SGB Rovacabin were briefed, they came up with a specification that meets our requirements and they have proved to be flexible throughout the whole process, including changing the internal building layout once installation was complete".

SGB drew up the initial design for the five-bay, 15.6 ft by 8.4ft modular building in April, and once planning permission was received, full installation was carried out.

Operational from the end of October 2008, the modular building provided four additional counselling rooms, administrative offices and storage space.

The modular building will be further adapted to provide four more counselling rooms in the coming months.

Phil Stanbrook of SGB Rovacabin explains: "Initially, Combat Stress required all eight counselling rooms to be operational at the time of installation, but due to internal program revisions and changes to timings the decision was made to provide four rooms initially, and then modify the storage office into four more rooms at a later date".

Ray Salmons of Combat Stress concludes: "The flexibility of SGB Rovacabin demonstrated on this project has been impressive and we are very happy with the level of service delivered".

"The finished building has helped ensure we can provide continued support to our patients".

Combat Stress has provided rehabilitative treatment to ex-military personnel for 90 years.

Through their three treatment centres and national network of welfare officers, they help veterans cope with their psychological disabilities and enjoy a better quality of life.
