SGB Rovacabin upgrade facilities for army recruits

SGB Rovacabin has designed, manufactured and installed a series of modular buildings within a tight timeframe, enabling the introduction of a new Junior Entry programme at Sir John Moore Barracks.

The seamless welfare facility upgrades were successfully installed at the site in Winchester and delivered within a thirteen week schedule.

The two-storey training block with external staircase, plus two brick-clad extensions to the existing medical and dental centres, are providing essential facilities for new younger recruits now eligible to join the armed forces.

The inclusion of 16 and 17 year olds into the army has meant an increased demand for welfare provisions and medical centre facilities at the barracks, including the requirement for seven additional classrooms.

The decision was made to go with modular accommodation due to the time critical nature of the project, and SGB Rovacabin were approached to provide an effective solution to meet the specific requirements.

Colonel Tony Workmen, having worked previously with the company was confident in their ability to meet the barrack's standards: "We are hugely impressed with SGB Rovacabin for their commitment, workmanship and their wilco attitude - they did an outstanding job".

SGB Rovacabin's advanced capabilities were especially demonstrated in the design of the two brick clad extensions to the medical and dental centres.

Paul Sargent of SGB Rovacabin comments: "When were we brought in to provide these additional facilities at the barracks, the requirement for seamless integration was top priority".

"By installing the modular buildings with a brick clad and pitched roof we have been able to match up with the look of the surrounding buildings, as well as recreate the look of a traditional build at a more cost effective rate".

Sir John Moore Barracks in Winchester, also known as the Army Training Regiment Winchester, is where army recruits undergo their phase one training.
