Firms attitude to trainees is crucial
Five trainees who have just gained their qualifications with a leading Shropshire builder are proof that a positive attitude by employers is rewarded through higher quality workforce.

"These five lads did very well and one of the major reasons for that was because they responded to the company's positive attitude towards them".
"Frank Galliers really understands what the company has to do for the students and how it will benefit long-term from having well trained and motivated employees," said Lena Stevenson of the Shrewsbury College Training Unit.
"We would like to see all construction companies develop in this way and really take on board the importance of the three-way relationship between apprentice, employer and college".
"We have been working with Frank Galliers for six years and in that time our relationship has really developed." Four of the trainees, who all live in Shrewsbury, served a two-year apprenticeship while the fifth achieved the same standards of training by studying for an NVQ level 2.
The apprentices are Mark Lyttle, Shane Pugh, Simon Hargest and Andy Maddox, while Jason Hubbard went through the NVQ route.
They are pictured with Lena Stevenson of the Shrewsbury College Training Unit and Carl Ayling, construction manager with Frank Galliers .
Carl Ayling said: "We at Frank Galliers pride ourselves on our commitment to the ongoing development of our employees to achieve our high standards".
"The apprenticeship schemes have worked particularly well in recent years due to our close relationship with Shrewsbury College".
Another local builder which is reaping the benefits of working closely with Shrewsbury College in training apprentices is Shropshire Homes.
The latest apprentice to achieve his qualification is Matthew Challinor, of Shrewsbury, who is pictured with Linda James, Shropshire Homes' training manager, at one of the company's recent developments.
The company, which works with the College every year, also has a second Year brickwork apprentice and a plastering apprentice who attends Shrewsbury College's Construction Centre at Stafford Park in Telford.
