Solar water heating in 210 BandQ stores

Solartwin, a UK invented solar water heating system, with innovations which make it quick and easy to install, is being rolled out into 210 BandQ stores.

Its launch is accompanied by a nationwide TV and press campaign from BandQ who are promoting a range of energy saving products including Winsdave turbines and loft insulation.

DIY'ers will be able to buy Solartwin panels to fit themselves or they can choose to have them fitted professionally.

Besides being promoted in all larger stores in UK and Ireland, Solartwin is now also on BandQ's online service, diy.com.

Solar Twin 's Managing Director, Barry Johnston says: "It's great that BandQ are taking the lead in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy so actively".

"With global warming accelerating and peak oil prices in October exceeding 90USD per barrel, solar water heating is now becoming mainstream".

"The BandQ promotion may mean that our mission of lifting solar out of the "green ghetto" becomes a reality." Established in 1999, SolarTwin was set up a to develop an innovative solar panel patent that made simple, water filled rubber solar panels possible.

The twin part of the name is because the technology is pumped by solar electricity instead of mains electricity, reducing the "carbon parasitics" which makes Solartwin about 20% more sustainable than some alternatives.

Turnover was GBP2m was 2006 and the company employs 20 people at its Chester HQ including three appointed three new appointments in October.

Solartwin operates in UK, Ireland and Portugal and is set to expand further afield in 2008 and is currently seeking active investment partners to fund its next phase of growth.
