Siteco new light projector reflects a world-first
Siteco has launched its next generation of secondary lighting systems including what is believed to be the world's flattest facetted reflector.
Siteco has launched its next generation of secondary lighting systems including what is believed to be the world's flattest facetted reflector.
Designed by architects Ingenhoven Overdiek, the new, ultra-slim Fresnel Mirrortec reflector breaks the mould with two-dimensional, as opposed to three-dimensional mirror technology, while the Siteco Mirrortec 150 projector is a smaller version of the award-winning big brother the Mirrortec 400.
Minimal light spill means systems such as these are sometimes the only solution for the glare-free illumination of large areas such as car parks and airport aprons where glare from direct light sources can be dangerous.
The patented systems also provide the ideal distribution of light for other areas such as atriums, halls, plazas and swimming pools.
Mirrortec 150 bears a strong resemblance to the tried and tested 400.
But while its big brother was developed for 250W and 400W, the 150 uses metal halide lamps of 35W to 150W.
These lower wattages mean the housing size of the 150 is smaller, the diameter of the projector head being only 250mm instead of 425mm.
However, the 150 features the same characteristics of its sibling in terms of its inverted mounting position and horizontally and vertically rotational projector head, choice of narrow or parallel beam distribution, and cover of toughened safety glass.
Each plated anodised aluminium projector is protected against dust ingress and is hose-proof while its integrated control gear means relamping for spot, accent and flood lighting, as well as secondary reflection, can be achieved without tools.
For secondary reflection, the light of the narrow-beam Mirrortec 150 or 400 spotlight is projected upwards onto the concave surfaces of the ultra-flat Fresnel 100 facetted mirror reflector that break up the light into numerous individual light spots and reflect it onto working surfaces without glare.
The Fresnel facets are attached to an aluminium honeycomb structure that is enclosed in extruded sectional aluminium to complement the design of the 150 and 400 projectors, on the principle that reflectors are normally the most visible components of the system and need to be attractive as well as functional.
Available in round and square versions, the Fresnel mirror reflectors are extremely lightweight and can be mounted on ceilings with pendants or cord hangers or on walls.
As well as the 400 and new 150 projectors, the Fresnel 100 reflector can be used with Mirrortec's existing SiCompact two mini and R2 Maxi projectors.
