Sika-Armorex dry shake topping Sikafloor-1 MetalTop was specified for a demanding flooring project at Cannon Avent, the company who revolutionised the design of the traditional baby feeding bottle.

Their world leading range of baby feeding products are now exported to 60 countries around the world.

Such is the demand for their innovative products, expansion of the manufacturing facility at Glemsford in Suffolk has been a regular feature of the company's growth.

The latest addition to the site has been a 4,200sq.

metre warehouse.

Flooring for the warehouse had to meet particularly demanding requirements.

As the position for the high bay racking and aisles for the movement of materials handling equipment had not been determined, the entire floor was specified as a very narrow aisle (VNA) warehouse for minimum clearance systems.

It was critical therefore to produce a high tolerance floor meeting the superflat classification for floor flatness and levelness.

The Sika-Armorex dry shake topping Sikafloor-1 MetalTop was specified.

This material is based on ultra durable metal alloy aggregates containing Titanium and carries a British Board of Agrement 25 year durability certificate.

Once powerfloated, Sikafloor-1 MetalTop was sprinkled by hand onto the wet concrete forming a monolithic surface, then sprayed with Sikafloor-ProSeal to cure, harden and seal.

Contractors Abbey Flooring Ltd laid the concrete floor by the long bay method with bays just 4 to 5 metres wide to achieve the exacting tolerances and avoid cracking problems.

Tolerances were double and treble checked by consultants Monofloor Technology Ltd to ensure superflat classification - which was achieved with no grinding operations throughout.
