Bristol Flyover Wrapped Up With Sika
SikaWrap 300A, a strong and tough Aramid fabric wrap system, was recently chosen to protect the columns on Gypsy Lane Flyover on the A38 north of Bristol against vehicle impact damage.
The Sikafloor solution employed is the only system able to combat high moisture content in a concrete floor slab.
Resin flooring specialists Rabbit Contracting of East Sussex firstly applied the water based epoxy primer Sikafloor 155W, the damaged and pitted surface was then levelled with the polymer cement screed Sikafloor-Level 25.
When dry, this new surface was then applied with the material that would provide the surface mounted damp proof membrane, Sikafloor 81 EpoCem.
This is an epoxy modified cementitious self smoothing screed that can be used on green or damp substrates to create a dpm.
The final surface was provided by Sikafloor 261, a solvent free, coloured universal epoxy resin that produces a hard wearing surface with good abrasion and chemical resistant properties.
The new smooth and level workshop floor is now tough enough to take the point loadings of fire engines, has an attractive anti-slip finish and will never suffer from damp problems again.
