Embassy Court Deco-rated With Sika
Embassy Court, a Grade 2 listed, Art Deco style, 11 story building, situated on the Brighton sea front, is being extensively refurbished using Sika concrete repair systems and coatings.
Because of the nature of the project, it was important that the repair materials used met all criteria required for contact with potable water.
Stonbury, AMP4 term contractors who were working for main contractor Earthtec Morrison, removed all spalling concrete, and made good using SikaTop 122, a pre-bagged, two component concrete repair mortar.
It is suitable for all high strength concrete repairs, and has DWI approval, so is suitable for contact with drinking water.
Internal joints were sealed using SikaDur -Combiflex high performance joint sealing system.
The system consists of Combiflex Hypalon strip, bonded with SikaDur epoxy high strength adhesive.
Its versatility makes it ideal for large expansion joints or cracks, is chemically resistant, and once again has DWI approval.
To ensure the future integrity of the structure, Stonbury applied SikaGard 550W Elastic anti-carbonation coating to the exterior of the water tower.
This environmentally friendly, one component, water based decorative coating remains permanently elastic, thus ensuring long term protection against weathering, carbonation and UV degradation.
