Sika -1 pre-batched Basement Waterproofing System has recently been used to waterproof the basement areas of a large residential, part new build and part refurbishment project in a prestigious area of London.

Specialist contractors Cemplas Limited applied the three coat Sika-1 render to the inside face of all outer walls and the lower 400mm of the internal walls, including Sika-1 Waterproof Screed, to ensure a totally dry environment.

Gullies cut into the floor to carry service pipes, have also been waterproofed with the same Sika-1 system.

British Board of Agrement approved Sika-1 is a three coat system, supplied in three easily identifiable pre-batched bags, which when mixed with Sika-1 liquid waterproofing admixture, provide a structural waterproofing render system.

First application is a spritz mortar, followed by a render coat and topped off with a finishing coat.

It can be applied to masonry, concrete or stone surfaces, and can be used for both keeping water in as well as keeping it out.

Movement joints were first sealed using SikaDur Combiflex, a highly elastic, rot-proof hypalon tape system, which is bonded to the substrate using SikaDur 31 epoxy adhesive.

This versatile system is suitable for sealing large construction joints in most structures including swimming pools, water tanks, tunnels etc Sika has a full range of waterproofing products including cavity drainage, pre-batched mortars, joint sealing systems, crack injection resins and protective coatings.
