Sika's proven SikaFast and SikaForce product ranges offer high-performance, cost-effective solutions that address all aspects of composite door and PVC-U door panel manufacture.

Specialist supplier Sika provides the total solution for bonding and sealing composite and thermoplastic doors with a range of technologically-advanced structural adhesives specifically designed to help fabricators achieve significant improvements in productivity, performance and quality Sika's proven SikaFast and SikaForce product ranges offer high-performance, cost-effective solutions that address all aspects of composite door and PVC-U door panel manufacture

A complete range of silicones for sealing glazing cassettes or glass units is also available.

SikaFast two-component adhesive systems bond many materials, such as timber, PVC, GRP or plastics, without surface preparation or priming and cure rapidly at room temperature.

Typical applications include bonding the edges of internal frames to composite door skins prior to foam injection.

Their ease of application, combined with rapid strength development, considerably shortens production cycle times.

SikaFast 3000 series flexible acrylic adhesives are designed to efficiently transfer high loads and evenly distribute stresses to ensure consistent quality of door manufacture.

Curing times are from five to 30 minutes.

Adhesives are available in either cartridges for easy dispensing or bulk containers for automated application.

The Sikafast 5000 series is a fast-curing, flexible adhesive system based on ADP, Sika?s latest user-friendly, acid-free polymer technology.

Forming excellent high-strength bonds to a wide range of metals and plastics, its gap filling properties allow for manufacturing tolerances of up to 3mm.

SikaForce polyurethane adhesives give outstanding adhesion with high mechanical strengths, making them ideal for PVC-U sandwich door panel assembly.

They can also be used for bonding composite doors, are rapid-curing and have good resistance to ageing.

Manufacturers seeking to develop new adhesive processes can take advantage of Sika?s unrivalled support service.

Its System Engineering department assists with tailor-made process design and provides technical support from project concept to implementation.

'Increasing numbers of manufacturers are entering the composite door market as its on-going growth continues to offer tremendous business opportunities,' comments Kelvin Farrell, Sika Business Development Manager.

'However with the fierce competition for market share, manufacturers must ensure their operations are as cost-efficient as possible to retain their competitive edge.

As a market-leading full range supplier of adhesive and sealant technologies, Sika works with its customers as a development partner to offer the most innovative, cost-effective and complete solution to meet the demands of this dynamic sector.' Sika is currently working with major door manufacturers on devising new cost-effective solutions using its latest reactive hotmelt technologies.

Sika's reactive hotmelt adhesives are heated to temperatures of 120 degrees 160 degrees C for liquid or free-flowing application.

They can be applied using a variety of methods at coverage rates determined by the specific application.

Ideal for continuous manufacturing operations, such sandwich door panel assembly, these new adhesive technologies offer significant opportunities for labour, raw material and cost savings, as well as improvements in efficiency and product quality.
