Specialist car park decking systems from Sika have recently been used in the refurbishment of multi-storey car parks in Suffolk and Nottingham The Parkway in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk is a six storey car park adjoining a newly developed restaurant and multiplex entertainment centre

Refurbishment was necessary as extensive movement of the concrete decking on the ground floor was causing severe cracking problems.

The solution was a coating of the rigid protective decking system Sikafloor Pronto.

This is a three-part multi-component decking screed system based on polymethylmethacrylic (PMMA) - superglue technology - probably the fastest curing screed material available.

In average temperatures, Sikafloor Pronto can be walked on just one hour after application and achieves full cure after two hours.

Equally important as the speed within the refurbishment, the system will also crack through to show if the slab is continuing to move.

At the Fletchergate multi storey in Nottingham, the refurbishment situation was one of a well-established car park needing more general repairs and a facelift.

Here the Sikafloor Monotop system was applied to transform worn, uneven and drab decking to provide extremely durable, slip resistant and bright, aesthetically pleasing surfaces.
