Bristol Flyover Wrapped Up With Sika
SikaWrap 300A, a strong and tough Aramid fabric wrap system, was recently chosen to protect the columns on Gypsy Lane Flyover on the A38 north of Bristol against vehicle impact damage.
As well as housing the helicopter and its maintenance facilities, the Air Support Unit hangar has become a popular attraction for visiting clubs and societies from Boy Scouts to Womens Institutes, throughout the region.
As a public relations showpiece, the appearance of the hangar is an important factor.
For this reason the Building and Estates department of West Yorkshire Police called in specialist contractors to improve the durability and appearance of the 500 sq.
metre floor area.
The existing epoxy floor had become worn and patchy in appearance and a new floor surface was specified that would be easy to clean and maintain, offering greater durability, with good slip, abrasion and chemical resistance.
Sikafloor 261 Thixo was the product selected to meet the specification.
Sikafloor 261 Thixo is a two component, solvent free epoxy resin based system applied as a high build textured coating.
The resulting floor surface is extremely durable and easy to maintain as well as attractive in appearance.
