Bristol Flyover Wrapped Up With Sika
SikaWrap 300A, a strong and tough Aramid fabric wrap system, was recently chosen to protect the columns on Gypsy Lane Flyover on the A38 north of Bristol against vehicle impact damage.
The exisiting floor was worn concrete that had to be upgraded to the standards required for a food processing environment.
Following preparation of the old concrete surface the water-based, heavy duty polyurethane screed Sikafloor PurCem 20 was applied at a depth of 9mm.
This provided a smooth, durable surface with excellent slip and chemical resistance.
Extensive bunded areas required detailed mortar work using Sikafloor PurCem 29 which also provides high chemical resistance.
Sikafloor PurCem 31 provided a thin film coating to seal these areas and optimise the aesthetics.
The floor installation was carried out by specialist flooring contractors IRL of Loughborough in the very short time of four weeks from start to finish.
The plant is now contributing to the 1.1 billion litres of soft drinks sold by Britvic every year.
