An innovative flooring system from Sika-Armorex, has been used in one of the most fascinating property conversion projects carried out in the UK in recent years.

An innovative flooring system from Sika-Armorex, has been used in one of the most fascinating property conversion projects carried out in the UK in recent years Known as the Lymm Water Tower project, the family who bought the grade II Victorian listed stone water tower in Lymm Cheshire, planned to rescue the derelict building and create a design-led, minimalist family home of the future

After two years work and the involvement of over 60 partnership companies, the family finally moved in during the summer of 2004.

Along with many other state-of-the-art features, the flooring specification was demanding - a white seamless floor, to be UV stable due to the large window space running the full length of the ground floor, to feel soft underfoot and provide a durable living surface! Specialist flooring contractors 4M Flooring, recommended Sikafloor 300, a decorative comfort floor like liquid lino.

Sikafloor 300 is a permanently elastic, liquid applied polyurethane system that gives a great feeling of warmth and comfort to walk on.

What's more it has been certified 'emission-free' when tested for odours, solvents and heavy metals, which makes it healthier for the occupiers than most other sheet flooring systems.

Within the Water Tower, Sikafloor 300 has been installed throughout the principal living areas comprising the summer lounge, dining room, kitchen and walkways on the ground floor and the master bedroom, bathroom, landing and walkways on the first floor.

In all, the floor area covered by Sikafloor 300 amounts to over 250sq metres.

The unique nature of this outstanding landmark building has been recognised by an exhibition featuring Lymm Water Tower at The Building Centre in London and a documentary series on UKStyle TV station featuring the whole conversion story.

Sikafloor 300 is available in limitless colours and individual flooring designs can be created by combining colours and applying coloured flakes or painted designs.
