Sika-Armorex flooring systems have been used throughout a new facility for Quinn Glass at Elton, Cheshire Quinn Glass produce over 750 million glass containers each year, this new facility will manufacture, store and fill bottles for the UK drinks industry

Construction of this project on the site of a former power station, includes a warehouse that is the largest pallet storage facility in Europe.

The massive 52,000 sq.m.

floor of the warehouse has a steel fibre reinforced concrete slab designed and installed by Twintec Industrial Flooring of Rugby.

The slab comprises 20,000 cu.m.

of concrete, 1000 tonnes of steel fibres and includes 30,000 litres of the Sika admixture Plastiment 160 superplasticizer.

In order to meet the specification for a floor to meet FM2 flatness classification and to withstand the rigours of 24 hour wheeled traffic, 220 tonnes of Sikafloor SynTop dry shake topping was applied to the new, wet concrete surface.

This synthetic aggregate system has a BBA 20 year certificate and provides exceptionally high resistance to wear, impact and oils and grease.

The surface was finally treated with Sikafloor Proseal providing an anti-dust membrane that cures, hardens and seals the surface.

Sika also supplied a SikaPlan reinforced PVC membrane roofing system for the warehouse.

Further Sika-Armorex flooring systems are scheduled to be installed in the production areas of the Quinn Glass facility in the next few months.
