Solution provided by a Sikafloor system comprising Sikafloor EpoCem 81 and Sikafloor 261.

The newly installed concrete floor slab in a new warehouse built at the British Gypsum plant at Kirkby Thore near Penrith contained a high level of moisture This moisture is a problem when a specialist surface is needed for concrete floors

The specification for the new 400sq m floor demanded a highly durable surface with slip-resistant properties.

To be able to achieve this and combat the moisture problem, a flooring system that included a surface mounted Damp Proof Membrane was required.

The solution was provided by a Sikafloor system comprising Sikafloor EpoCem 81 and Sikafloor 261.

EpoCem 81 is an epoxy modified cementitious, self smoothing screed that is used specifically to provide a DPM to green and damp substrates.

This was laid 2mm thick then broadcast with quartz aggregate to provide the slip-resistant finish.

The surface was then coated with Sikafloor 261 epoxy resin providing a uniform colour and texture.
