Sika-Armorex flooring systems have recently been installed as part of the refurbishment of buildings at the BMW Group's, Oxford plant where more than 200,000 cars were produced last year.
The 7,500sq m AC building was part of the original manufacturing site and has now been refurbished to become a warehouse for storage of MINI parts.
The concrete floor had deteriorated over the years, was worn and uneven and had a series of metal plates bolted into the concrete.
Specialist contractors Zircon Flooring had the job of clearing up the floor before they could install the new Sikafloor surface.
After removing the metal plates, the floor was shotblasted and treated with Sikafloor-156 epoxy primer.
An average 15mm of Sikafloor Level 25, a polymer cement screed, was then pump-applied to create a smooth, level base.
The final surface needed to be hard wearing enough to withstand continuous forklift truck movements and provide good chemical resistance.
Sikafloor-261, a solvent-free, epoxy resin flooring system was specified and applied to the entire 7,500sq m area at a depth of 2mm in the BMW Group colour grey.
The result is a smooth, attractive, wear resistant floor that will remain in excellent condition for many years to come.
