Following trials it was found that the Sika -1 pre-bagged waterproofing system was the best solution to cope with the risk of any future water penetration.
Specialist applicators G and R Ross were appointed to carry out the work, following Sika's strict installation guidelines.
The BBA approved Sika -1 system is a structural cementitious multi-layer rendering system suitable for interior and external use and can be applied as a three-coat system.
In this application a three-coat system was used.
The first application is a spritz mortar, followed by a render coat and topped off with a finishing coat, all at 6mm thickness.
It can be applied to masonry, concrete or stone surfaces, and can be used for both keeping water in as well as keeping it out.
Prior to the application of the Sika -1 system, movement joints were first sealed using SikaDur Combiflex, a highly elastic, rot-proof hypalon tape system, which is bonded to the substrate using SikaDur 31 epoxy adhesive.
Sika -1 is part of a full range of waterproofing products including cavity drainage, waterproof slurries, joint sealing systems, waterstopping resins and moisture vapour barriers.
