Recently complete extension to JCB Cab Systems manufacturing site has been installed with specialist industrial floor surface produced by Sika .

The site at Rugeley, Staffordshire manufacturers the highly sophisticated cabs for the JCB range of diggers, loaders and earthmoving equipment The 2,500 square metre floor area needed to be durable enough to withstand continuous heavy industrial usage on a daily basis without succumbing to the wear associated with regular concrete floors

The dry shake flooring system Sikafloor MetalTop was specified and installed by specialist concrete flooring contractors Seamless Floors of Rochdale.

The MetalTop material is a blend of fine particles of metal alloys, cement, pigment and aggregates that is sprinkled onto the surface of fresh concrete floor slabs.

The dry shake fuses with the wet concrete when power floated, creating a monolithic surface that is so durable it is some 20 times more abrasion resistant than regular concrete.

The MetalTop system has been installed in army tank garages, factories, supermarkets and warehouses for over 35 years.

Shaun Speers, Sika Product Engineer explained, "Sikafloor MetalTop far exceeds the 'severe/special abrasion resistance' criteria of BS8204".

"In addition, the surface provides anti-static properties, is dust-free and resistant to oils, chemicals and solvents".

"We have also developed a traction control treatment for the surface that produces enhanced slip resistance that increases with age".

The floor at JCB Cab Systems is coloured green, the pigment is an integral part of the system materials and therefore cannot wear off.

Green is one of the standard colours although many colours can be produced to order.
