Ray Wharton, Managing Director and Chairman of Silent Gliss , is retiring at the end of the year after almost 30 years with the Company After completing his MBA in the USA in 1968, Ray moved back to the UK and into marketing with such giants as BOC, Rank and Burtons before joining the Window Treatment Industry via Rufflette in Europe

But it was with Silent Gliss that he fulfilled his many ambitions culminating this year with the opening of a new state-of the-art factory in Broadstairs.

A project which was very much his own and which is a fitting legacy to his work with the company.

He was instrumental in setting up the UK company's domestic blind subsidiary-Novatec-whose second brand name -Eclectics-has carved itself niche notoriety for contemporary blinds.

Hugh Gage, a director at Silent Gliss and well known in the industry, will take over as MD of Silent Gliss and Bernie Keens will continue to run Novatec .
