Simmtronic Provide Lighting Control For the GLA's new home for the Mayor and the London Assembly.

The intelligent, addressable lighting control system installed at the distinctive City Hall building, in London, was designed and engineered by Simmtronic, using its versatile SPECS 3 technology This impressive building - the GLA's new home for the Mayor and the London Assembly - was designed by Foster and Partners to be a new landmark for the Capital

The brief called for presence, daylight and time controls and the project team needed a partner who could react quickly to overcome any technical difficulties.

Lighting control specialist Simmtronic has a successful previous supplier history with members of this project team and worked closely with the architects, consultants and contractors, to engineer cost effective solutions, provide support services and ensure the system was handed over to witnessing agents on time and without complications.

The control system for City Hall comprised a high volume of customised Simmtronic architrave switches to integrate into door mullions and special multi-gang plates to operate the circulation areas.

Simmtronic's SPK.28 architrave switches can be individually configured to select or cycle between lighting scenes with adjustable fade rates.

Universal head sensors provide the presence detection sensibility, high resolution linear light measurement and multi-command infra-red control.

All switches and sensors are software programmable to provide a versatile, intelligent and fully addressable lighting control system.

Mainsborne transmission has been used as a communications path between area controllers and the remote lighting control LCMs, eliminating all overhead wiring.

This simplified the modular lighting controls to a three-wire system for cost effective installation whilst providing the GLA with a very flexible building.
