Highly Flexible Digital Lighting Control System
Simmtronic digital lighting control system is proving highly flexible at the Glaxosmithkline HQ.
This is its second contract on the project as Simmtronic also engineered the lighting control system for the first phase, using its proprietary SPECS 3 technology to provide solutions to the difficulties associated with installation work in such an historic building.
There are severe constraints applying to work which may invade the fabric of this Grade II listed building.
Wiring poses particular problems as wall-chasing is not permitted and the only route for switch drops is from the floor above, through valuable ceiling coving.
In phase-one, Simmtronic proved its ability to engineer an easy to install system that overcame these difficulties, by employing its expertise in radio switching technology, to eliminate wiring, and using mains borne signalling systems to avoid the need for data cabling.
This same expertise and technology also features in its solution for the next phase.
For phase-two Simmtronic has designed the optimum lighting control system using area controllers, universal heads and radio switches, fully supported with a software programme to provide complete floor plan graphics and a computerised control capability within the building management system.
The universal heads, for presence detection within rooms, can be overridden with a radio switch and also incorporate a photocell to 'off' the outer row of lights when there is sufficient daylight.
Simmtronic has considerable experience in managing large lighting control projects and a specialist technical group is available to work closely with the electrical contractor and project team.
It ensures that all stages are closely supervised, seen through to successful commissioning and that customers are trained in operating the Simmtronic system software and on-site fault finding techniques.
