SELECT boosts HQ team with three new appointments
SELECT new appointments will strengthen its core team and enhance its ability to help shape the market environment by representing the electrotechnical industry to government.
Joining the headquarters operation at the Bush Estate in Midlothian are Heather Martin, External Affairs Adviser; Martin McLaughlin, Technical Adviser; and Margaret Mackay, Finance Assistant.
Heather Martin, 24, is a graduate of Napier University with a degree in printing and graphic media.
She has had a varied career, working as a manager at the Carling Academy and the Tron Theatre in Glasgow before taking over the management of an independent wine merchant in Edinburgh.
She said: "I was attracted to SELECT because it will allow me to use my skills in PR, design, publishing and printed media".
"This is a very go-ahead organization and I hope to be able to contribute different communications thinking, focusing on areas such as websites, e-newsletters and second-life applications." Mark McLaughlin, 33, began his career as an electrician with a firm in Paisley before going to the University of Paisley where he took an electrical and electronics degree.
He worked with Japanese company Terasaki in Clydebank manufacturing high and low-voltage switchgear before taking a post with Inverclyde Council.
He said: "SELECT has a crucial role in enabling member firms to provide a quality service to their clients and I look forward to being able to assist that process by providing technical advice".
"My varied background will qualify me to assist in areas such as new member technical inspections, periodic assessment, training courses and technical helplines." Margaret Mackay, joins the finance team at SELECT from her previous employment at the Roslin Institute.
She will undertake duties as a purchase ledger clerk and will be responsible for Bacs payments, expenses cheques, debt management issues and bank records.
She said: "I live locally in Penicuik and I knew of SELECT's reputation for professionalism and high standards".
"I am very happy to be joining the team".
