Brightest sparks honoured at the SELECT
Awards
Top-performing electrical contractors in Scotland have won the recognition of their peers in the profession in this year's prestigious SELECT Electrotechnical Awards.
SELECT Electrotechnical Awards - the annual competition which singles out for special praise the firms and individuals who go the extra mile to deliver results which are literally second to none At a glittering awards ceremony attended by more than 350 at Glasgow's Radisson SAS Hotel on Friday 26th October, staged in association with CABLEtalk magazine, the industry's top performers gained honours in categories ranging from Best Marketing Initiative to Best Electrical Safety Initiative - badges of success which confer particular lustre on Scotland's leading industry players at a time when the need for the highest possible standards has never been greater

The awards were presented by veteran BBC journalist Neil Mudie.
The most high profile award category of the year is inevitably the accolade Electrical Contractor of the Year, sponsored by Thistle Generators, and the honour for 2007 goes to Crown House.

Everwarm Services has become the 1000th member of SELECT, the electrical contractors' association for Scotland.
Crown House was this year's conspicuous big success, as it also won the award for having the best electrical safety initiative; and was a runner-up in two other categories.
A highlight of the ceremony was the presentation to senior industry figure David Latimer of a special Lifetime Achievement Award - whose distinguished career spans 50 years in his profession.
SELECT president Douglas Geddes told the audience of the numerous important committees Mr Latimer has served on over the decades, as well as acting as director of an electrical contracting business - pointing out that he is still just as active today after many of his peers have retired.

Best Customer Service Initiative (sponsored by BSi): North Ayrshire Council (Gordon Electrical, Reid Kerr College).
Best Small Contractor Award, (sponsored by MK Electric): John Noble (Lotus Electrical, White Testing, Hosie Electrical).
Best Training Initiative:(sponsored by SummitSkills): CandM Group (Crown House).
Best Electrical Safety Initiative (sponsored by the Electrical Safety Council): Crown House (Lotus Electrical, North Ayrshire Council).
Best New Product Initiative (Sponsored by RBS): Megger MFT 1553 On Site Test Kit (CK Tools Combicutters 3, Eaton Clip-on Accessory Range).
