Staff at Bury based ductwork manufacturer and contractor, Senior Hargreaves were shocked by the sudden death from a heart attack of commercial director, David Lowe (55) on January 8.

David was well known and respected throughout the HVAC and construction industry, having spent nearly 40 years in the business.

David's career began at Senior Hargreaves as an apprentice in 1966.

On completing his training and gaining HNC qualifications from Bury College he progressed through the drawing office into the contracts department.

Here he gained experience on major projects such as The Barbican and Heysham Power Station.

Transferring to sales, David became sales director in 1991, winning for the company their largest contract ever for £22 million at Sizewell B.

Similar high technology contracts followed including microprocessor factories for Fujistsu, NEC and Digital.

David was involved in prestige projects such as Portcullis House and the Gnome Campus.

Most recently, he was involved with the research centre for AstraZeneca at Alderley Park.

"He will be missed by colleagues and friends both in the company and throughout the industry," commented managing director Kevin White.

Over 200 people from all branches of the construction industry attended the funeral, which took place on January 16 in his home village of Edenfield, near Bury.

David leaves his wife, two daughters, two step daughters and six grandchildren.
