New 100% recycled sound insulation mat

A Sound and Vibration Technology product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 17, 2007

Sound Service, one of UK's leading suppliers of soundproofing insulation, is calling upon constructors to site test an exciting new, 100% recycled sound insulation mat.

"Sound Service has already carried out a number of simulations and practical experiments on the G8 matting," said Stephen Young, Technical Director for Isolgomma UK and Sound Service (Oxford) .

"The product has proven to comply with the dynamic stiffness and sound pressure level sound reduction requirements specified by PART E building regulations".

"We now require site tests to confirm the effectiveness of the product when installed on both cast concrete floors and Beam and Block concrete floors".

Superior Performance.

Manufactured and designed in Italy by Isolgomma, the G8 sound insulation mat is designed specifically to provide superior performance when used in concrete flooring.

In initial trials, the recycled, granulated EPDM rubber rolls demonstrated weighted reduction in impact sound pressure level of not less than 29dB.

Builders and architects wishing to take part in the soundproofing site tests must be able to offer a room in a new building requiring a 65mm concrete screed on top of a resilient layer.

The room should be at least 3m x 3m and a maximum of 25m2 with a base floor mass of at least 300kg/m2 and preferably with a ceiling in place.

The new G8 will be supplied free of charge by Sound Service.

The soundproofing and sound installation suppliers will also provide expert installation supervision for tradespeople with no previous experience.

Site Testing.

Upon completion of the testing schedule, the floor will also be tested by Sound Service.

In the unlikely event of testing failure, the Oxford based firm will assist with a solution so that a satisfactory sound testing pass can be achieved.
