teachers
Company provides SolidWorks Student Edition software to 100 winners of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Addressing the decline of student interest in math and science in the U.S., SolidWorks Corporation today announced its sponsorship of the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) The company provided middle and high school teachers who won the national award one license of SolidWorks Education Edition and the associated curriculum tools to introduce their students to the math and science fundamentals behind engineering, medicine, research, and other technical fields

President George W.Bush honored 100 awardees with the country's highest honor for mathematics and science teachers.
The program is administered for the White House by the National Science Foundation.
From May 1 through May 6, awardees attended ceremonies and conferences in Washington, D.C.
on the state of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) initiatives aimed at increasing student interest.
SolidWorks presented the software to the awardees at this event.
"The number of math- and science-related degrees, including engineering, has been dropping in the past decade in the United States," said Marie Planchard, SolidWorks Corporation's director of education marketing.
"As corporate citizens in this field, it's our duty to support frontline teachers".
"We are giving the best teachers in the country a powerful tool to demonstrate what students can achieve with a solid math and science education".
"Hopefully this will encourage more students to pursue STEM careers." Geometry teachers can use SolidWorks to transform static blackboard drawings into dynamic 3D images that clearly show relationships in space.
The same is true for calculus teachers trying to convey complex functions.
Physics teachers can use COSMOS analysis software to visually capture how a lever will or won't stand up to a variety of forces.
Statistics teachers can export Microsoft Excel graphs to SolidWorks to provide graphical representation of statistical trends.
Each of the awardees received case studies of products designed in SolidWorks software to show students the potential results of honing their math and science skills.
SolidWorks also provided hands-on exercises that teachers can use to give students a taste of working in 3D CAD.
