Montech switches to SolidWorks

A SolidWorks Corporation product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 15, 2006

Montech, specializing in monorail, transportation, automation, and conveyor systems, has standardized on SolidWorks software for all of its new designs.

Swiss mechanical engineering company Montech, specializing in monorail, transportation, automation, and conveyor systems since 1963, has standardized on SolidWorks software for all of its new designs.

SolidWorks 3D CAD software has reduced the company's training, maintenance, and upgrade costs while dramatically enhancing productivity as it creates world-class solutions for customers like ABB, Bose, Kirby, Volvo, and Universal Avionics.

The company's design engineers particularly value its ease of use and ability to detect collisions in the early stages of its product designs.

Montech's previous software was consuming too many training, maintenance, and upgrade costs.

"SolidWorks enables us to work efficiently," said Markus Hakkak, engineer at Montech.

"Although the system is very easy to use, it offers all the essential features we need for the development of our automation systems".

"Prior to SolidWorks, we used AutoCAD Inventor, which required so many upgrades that the cost of constantly re-training our engineering staff was unrealistic".

"With SolidWorks, the upgrades are consistently timed and require very little additional training." Detecting collisions in assembly designs at an early stage saves time and money that would otherwise be spent on exhaustive redesign and error correction.

The company is reaping further benefits from its extensive use of SolidWorks' free-form design functions for elegant surfaces on high-visibility parts".

""Montech has been a highly admired machine design company since it produced the first modular pick-and-place device for the watchmaking industry in the early 1960s," said Rainer Gawlick, SolidWorks vice president of worldwide marketing".

""The company's products are focused on speed and efficiency, and SolidWorks software provides the same benefits to Montech's design engineers".

Montech relies on authorized SolidWorks reseller Solid Solutions for training, implementation, and support.
