Keep warm outdoors with helios patio heaters

A Scott Products product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 4, 2005

Newly launched Helios patio heaters provide powerful and dependable heat extending indoor living areas outside.

Most people would not even consider dining outside during the winter months.

However, the newly launched Helios patio heaters provide powerful and dependable heat extending indoor living areas outside.

With Helios appliances, pubs and restaurants can turn their gardens and terraces into year-round entertainment spots.

The forthcoming ban on smoking in most enclosed public areas is leading these, as well as many offices and factories to create outdoor smoking areas for their employees.

Helios heaters provide the convenient, comfortable and affordable warmth needed in this case.

Helios are electric infrared appliances looking just like the heaters used in the outdoor areas of Celebrity Big Brother.

They heat people and objects but not the ambient air while at the same time producing an imaginary sunset glow.

Helios units are silent, odourless, instant, safe and highly efficient because they do not heat the ceiling void and are not affected by draughts.

Helios heaters are the ideal product line for DIY and hardware retailers, builders merchants and garden centres.

Most ordinary infrared heaters emit medium-wave infrared, which is only 38% efficient.

Helios appliances use the top quality, multicoated, Philips HeLeN tubes, which emit short-wave infrared thereby being an incredible 92% efficient.

Furthermore, Philips HeLeN tubes are able to deliver instant heat and enjoy a 7000 hour life.

This is three hours of heat per day for over six years! In addition, Philips bulbs suffer no degradation of power during their life, they emit no UV or other harmful radiation and are easy to replace.

Infrared heat is directional, like a beam of light.

What's more, only 40% of the delivered heat is generated by the bulb while a significant 60% is generated by the reflector.

This means that even the best quality short-wave bulb will produce poor heat if the reflector is not of the highest quality and perfectly shaped.

Helios units feature a patented symmetrical parabolic reflector with a double concentric curve, guaranteeing maximum performance of up to 25% higher than conventional poor quality reflectors.

As a result, with Helios appliances, heat can be accurately targeted, significantly reducing running costs and environmental impact.

The Helios outdoor heater features a waterproof cast aluminium housing with a tempered protective glass lens making it perfect for use in patios, terraces and outdoor smoking areas.

The units are normally wall mounted while they can also be mounted onto features such as lights and parasols, especially in the case of pub and restaurant gardens and terraces.

Alternatively, the outdoor Helios can be supplied as a free-standing heater, ready-wired, complete with tripod stand, 10m of cable and an RCD safety plug.

The Helios outdoor heater achieves good retail margins, whilst being easier to stock than LPG Patio Heaters, taking less shelf space.

Helios indoor heaters are ideal for use at home, at the workshop or in the workplace.

They are available in two models: the Helios Varma Spot heater-1.3kW, supplied with a 2.5-metre cable and plug and the Helios Gold heater-2.0kW, which is supplied without cable, ready for mounting and wiring.

Both models can be alternatively used with the stylish stand with the solid base and the gold coloured fittings also supplied by Scott Products.

The Helios heaters retail from £139.95 for a 1.3kW wall-mounted model and are guaranteed for two years.
