SOL West Midlands are confident about the future and anticipate a projected turnover of GBP30m in the next financial year.

As 2005 is coming to a close, SOL West Midlands is reflecting on a good year - in fact they are looking at an outstanding 5 years of growth The planned growth started in 2000 when SOL Construction, of Nottingham took over Crosbee and Atkins, keen to have a West Midlands presence through an established business that had 50 staff and 84 operatives and a turnover of GBP8.4m

Now SOL West Midlands is looking at a turnover of GBP24.5m and a team that has grown to 76 staff and 167 operatives - they also have a fleet of 142 of their own vans, largely servicing their growing maintenance operation.

So what have been the driving factors to such rapid expansion? A mix of four trading divisions, each with their own expertise, coupled with a clear focus on the highest quality of service has undoubtedly contributed.

The divisions encompass major projects; special projects and small works; building maintenance and electrical.

Across all divisions the common factors that underpin their success include good people, excellent team work, pride in what they do and above all focus on quality of service.

Many companies pay lip service to a 'people' focus but SOL West Midlands has admirably demonstrated that this strategy has delivered a dependable team, structured of long serving staff in each of the divisions, who take pride in striving to be better than the competitor.

A commitment to developing its team through a true open door policy, and a commitment to training and apprenticeships drives the culture of customer focus.

Warwick Operating Director, John Heard's mantra is "Service is paramount".

"Given that you already have a skilled and professional operation, it is channelling those skills to provide the best possible service that gives the business its cutting edge and reputation".

"It is for that reason that customers want to build long term partnering relationships with SOL, and this has been key in achieving our growth over the past five years," he commented.

SOL West Midlands are also confident about the future and anticipate a projected turnover of GBP30m in the next financial year.

With a solid team in place and an order book that is strong, they can afford to be optimistic about the future.
