Solaglas Contracting Scotland has just completed a project to help transform Robert Gordon University's sports centre into a world class venue.

Solaglas Contracting Scotland has just completed a project to help transform Robert Gordon University's sports centre into a world class venue.

First Minister, Jack McConnell, officially opened the new centre.

He concluded that if Scotland was to continue to compete with the world's best, they needed many more similarly equipped sports facilities.

The contract to glaze the structure was awarded by Mansell in Aberdeen and designed by Thomson, Craig and Donald.

Facilities include a 25-metre swimming pool, main hall for indoor hockey and 5-a-side football, a further activity hall, cardio vascular suite and a cafe bar.

As expert fabricators of Technal systems, Solaglas Contracting Scotland were able to provide in-depth advice regarding the curtain walling specification, working closely with the architects throughout the project.

Glazing spanned three storeys and included a large and impressive open walkway to the north of the building.

Double glazed units were manufactured locally by Solaglas combining 6mm SGG Planitherm Securit low E, toughened safety glass and 6mm SGG PLANILUX float glass with 60mm cavity.
