Solaglas celebrate a first for ILVA UK
Solaglas Contracting North won the contract to provide the structural glazing for the two-storey flagship store for ILVA UK.
Danish owned ILVA is the continent's second largest furniture retailer offering a wide range of internationally designed furniture and accessories for the home at low prices.
As part of the company's expansion into the UK, ILVA intends to open 20 superstores over the next 10 years.
The first store is already under construction in Manchester's latest City centre regeneration area, known as Piccadilly Basin.
Solaglas Contracting North, based in Bradford, won the contract to provide 1050m2 of structural glazing for the two-storey 120,000 sq.ft.flagship store back in March from Shepherd Construction.
Solaglas will be installing SGG ECKELT LITE-WALL, a peg and bolt system with siliconed glass to glass joints to the face, providing a flush exterior with no visible frame.
The system will support a 60m wide retail facade using 10mm SGG PARSOL GREEN toughened and heat soak tested, body-tinted single glazed panes up to 2m x 4.8m onto full height glass fins.
Solaglas Project Manager, John Uszylo, says, "We are delighted to be associated with the first ILVA store in the UK".
Solaglas are due on site in June and are programmed to complete the project by the end of September.
