Tropical medicine for Solaglas

A Solaglas product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 29, 2008

Two Solaglas contracting businesses provided curtain walling and bolted structural glazing for the Shepherd Construction contract at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.

Solaglas Contracting North provided curtain walling while Solaglas Contracting's Structural team used the SGG POINT SLW system to create a bolted glass entrance screen mounted on glass fins.

The screen runs round the lower floors of the main block and extension with curtain walling used from the second floor upwards.

Structural Contracting also glazed a first floor bridge which links the new development to the existing building, and the revolving doors for the main entrance.

Shepherd Construction has since awarded Solaglas Contracting the contract to supply unitised glazing on the GBP5-million St Paul's development in Sheffield following the successful completion of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine project for the contractor.

Paul Neilson from Shepherd Construction, said: "Solaglas' North and Structural teams worked together seamlessly at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, enabling us to deliver a sophisticated glazing project on time and to budget".

"Their track record as a specialist glazing sub-contractor made them the logical choice when we were looking for a partner to work with us on the prestigious St Paul's development.".
