SandP Coil Products has boosted the market position of its radiant panels, by moving production from a German supplier to its own UK factory.

Specialist manufacturer and supplier of heating equipment SPC (SandP Coil Products ) has boosted the market position of its radiant panels, by moving production from a German supplier to its own UK factory A team of specially trained staff has begun manufacturing the SPC Thermatile Plus range at new premises close to its Leicester headquarters

The ceiling-mounted devices emit radiant heat to warm room occupants directly and the air indirectly, resulting in lower heat losses and energy savings.

Business has grown rapidly since the move began in March, with the company most recently securing a large contract to supply the radiant panels for a project at York University.

More members of staff are expected to be taken on within the coming months as the radiant panel business continues to flourish.

SPC UK sales director Warwick Taylor explained that the decision to move the manufacturing was made late last year.

He said: "The UK radiant ceiling panel market is growing around 20 per cent each year and we wanted to be in the best position possible to take advantage of that".

""Previously the panels were being made exclusively for us by our German supplier.

We were happy with the quality but we wanted to broaden our footing in the UK market place.

"So we leased a new unit and set up the production line with specially trained staff".

"Since then we have cut production time by half and become one of the UK's five or six major players in the market, with building contractors quickly recognizing that status".

Mr Taylor added that plans were already underway to further reduce in-house production times to meet growing demand.

Equipment is in place to semi-automatically bend the serpentine-shaped pipe in the devices.

SPC Thermatile Plus ceiling panels boast a unique composite aluminium sheet structure and strip panel joining system for easy 'plug and play' installation.

The new production line is now fully operational and will be officially launched in the next few months with a national awareness event for customers and staff.
