Heating System In Tune With Concert Hall's Needs

A Spirax Sarco product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 19, 2004

A refurbished concert hall, which will provide world-class rehearsal and performance facilities for the University of Leeds, is to be heated by a Spirax Sarco Engineered System.

The consultant engineers selected a Spirax Sarco EasiHeat system as the most cost-effective and reliable means of providing hot water for the hall's space heating.

The skid-mounted unit comprises a steam plate heat exchanger with all the necessary steam conditioning, control and condensate recovery equipment.

Specification and design time for the EasiHeat was considerably less than that needed for a conventional shell-and-tube heating system.

Installation is also quick because the complete package only needs to be hooked up to the site's services and commissioned, reducing the time and costs in building conventional heating systems on site.

Furthermore, the whole package is factory tested and guaranteed to work as specified, eliminating the risk of compatibility problems between components.

Major renovation of the concert hall will provide increased audience capacity, more comfortable seating, a better view of the stage and improved acoustics.

Twelve new acoustic-quality rehearsal rooms have been built in the basement below the concert hall.

One of the region's best chamber music venues, the hall will be used by the community at all levels, from local schools, to professional companies such as Opera North.
