Space Air delivers split heat pump systems

A Space Airconditioning product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jul 23, 2010

Space Air has supplied Daikin Altherma inverter split type heat pump systems for apartments at Montague Place in order to exceed the 10 per cent Merton Rule.

Montague Place is a collection of apartments in Kingston Upon Thames, equipped with solar panels in an attempt to meet the the 10 per cent renewable technology requirement for the Merton Rule.

The number of apartments, 55 in total, meant that the foot-print area on the roof was too small for the quantity of panels required to satisfy the requirement.

The Local Authority and its Energy Assessor advised the developers to provide some of the apartments with air to water heat pumps.

The heat pump systems are used for central heating to convector radiators and towel rails as well as the domestic hot water serving the top floor luxury apartments.

All the indoor units and storage cylinders have been placed in the airing cupboards, leaving enough space to install washing machines and shelving.

The outdoor units have been positioned on the roof with easy access for the annual maintenance check.

The Daikin Altherma split system is versatile with each system in Montague Place arranged differently due to the interior design, yet all components are the same.

Many parts of the assembly were pre-fabricated by Space Air at its HQ in Guildford.

This ensured accurate installation and reduced site time.

The Space Air design simplifies input by plumbers and electricians.

The systems have been commissioned by Space Air, who is fully MCS approved.
