Spa launches lightweight Aeropanel.

A Spa Laminates product story

New Aeropanel panelling has all the benefits of mdf but is much lighter, providing a real breakthrough for designers, architects, builders and shopfitters.

Up to now the popular look for interiors featuring clean lines and 'chunky' furniture for seating, wall panelling, shelves and doors has involved weighty and expensive panelling made from layers of mdf.

Now top UK veneered panel specialists, Spa Laminates, has found a way to achieve the look and the strength without the weight.

Its new Aeropanel panelling has all the benefits of mdf but is much lighter, providing a real breakthrough for designers, architects, builders and shopfitters.

Aeropanel is manufactured as a composite sandwich panel.

The outside layers comprise 6mm moisture resistant, exterior grade or fire retardant mdf, according to application, with a flame retardant foam centre.

The panels can then be finished in laminate or veneer, with cut edges finished with either solid veneered lipping or left plain to allow for further machining.

The foam core offers superior thermal properties with low moisture absorption - which is a significant benefit when used as internal wall panelling on exterior facing walls.

Available in sheet sizes 10' x 4' or 8' x 4' or any smaller cut size panel, either 30mm or 165mm thick from stock, or other thicknesses to order, the panels can be drilled to take fittings, cut, routed, machined or shaped.

Solid mdf or timber sections can be manufactured into the panel too if required.

Says Spa marketing director Daryn Forster: "Aeropanel offers designers, architects, shop fitters and builders a real alternative to solid wood or mdf, without any loss of performance or visual pleasure".

"It's so light even a child can lift it - or push it - but is immensely strong and structurally stable".

"Another important cost saving benefit is the fact that the labour required for on site installation is significantly reduced." Aeropanel can be supplied in any wood veneer or laminate available on the market.

The product is also 100% recyclable and ozone friendly.
