Spa launches lightweight Aeropanel.
New Aeropanel panelling has all the benefits of mdf but is much lighter, providing a real breakthrough for designers, architects, builders and shopfitters.
This was very important to us considering the short amount of time we had to complete the refurbishment of our store".
When visitors come through the main entrance they will see a spectacular canopy of Spa Macassar Ebony panels surrounding a central light box, at once both dramatic and sophisticated.
Daryn Forster says: "We manufactured the canopy using our new lightweight product, foam-core Aeropanel, supplied pre-finished with a deep high gloss.
"There were a number of considerations that made it ideal for this important feature.
At 10ft long and 50mm thick, Aeropanel was the perfect solution for such large panels as their weight was significantly reduced.
We supplied them to exact dimensions to enable them to be fitted quickly and easily on site.
Installing them was a simple matter, rather than the major engineering exercise that panels of this size and application would ordinarily require.
Finally, the high gloss finish makes the canopy bounce light in from the glass shop facade and its luxurious design gives visitors a feel for what to expect in store".
The central feature of the store is a stunning pyramid chandelier suspended over sweeping stairs leading to the lower sales floor.
Spa supplied solid oak stair treads and hand rails pre-finished with a stain and lacquer to match the second veneer featured in the store, Fumed Oak.
The dark finish acts as a perfect foil for the limestone floor featured throughout the store.
Finally, using veneers from the same logs to ensure a perfect match, Spa supplied Macassar Ebony and Fumed Oak veneers to clad the fitted reception area which houses the computer and electronics for sales transactions.
Says Daryn: "We created a 'multi layer' veneer product to allow the veneers to be applied on site.
This product, created by layering veneers in a multi-directional format, gives both the flexibility and rigidity necessary so the veneers can be applied without any specialist equipment".
Leeds-based Spa, launched in 1974, supplies specialist veneered panels for shop fitting, hotel, bar, restaurant, office, shipping and domestic sectors.
