Spiral Construction announce new contracts

Specialist staircase manufacturer, Spiral Construction, announce a range of new contracts including its largest single contract of GBP1m.

The contract was for a further phase of the GBP8 billion Allenby/Connaught project for Aspire Defence - the largest ongoing construction project in the UK.

Spiral will provide over 100 fire escape staircases for MOD bases on Salisbury Plain and around Aldershot.

Having worked on the project since 2006, and as a result of the quality of their installations to date, the contract was negotiated without competition.

The company has also secured works on a number of other MOD projects throughout the UK (totalling a further GBP750k) as well as the supply of three feature staircases for the GBP35m City Centre University Campus in Newport, Gwent.

Commenting on the news, Spiral Construction's Managing Director, Eric Nicholls, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have won these contracts, effectively securing work well into 2010 - and with some projects running to 2012".

"As a result of the quality of our work on past contracts, we are now firmly established as the main supplier of this type of staircase on all Ministry of Defence sites around the UK.

Conditions in the construction industry are the most difficult we have experienced in over twenty years and so a great deal of credit goes to our experienced staff for their expertise, commitment and professionalism".

Spiral Construction is now firmly established as the UK's leading manufacturer of spiral staircases.

The company's continued growth is in part due to an ongoing programme of product development and investment in new machinery and technology - recently purchasing a new rolling machine and extending site storage areas.

They have also recently appointed Danny Chambers as Sales and Marketing Manager, a new position within the company.

In addition to the new contracts, Spiral is currently installing feature stainless steel and walnut staircases in four new luxury houses in central London and has recently completed a large helical staircase near Perth for one of Scotland's leading schools.
