However, since then the number of construction styles and techniques has multiplied.
This, the fourth generation former, incorporates many improvements that give it unrivalled versatility, enabling it to meet the much more testing requirements of today's new build market.
"Spectus' new former can be used to close cavities between 75 and 125mm wide with a single extrusion incorporating EPS insulation.
Installers can fit the windows from the outside or the inside, fitting from the inside bringing obvious health and safety benefits.
The windows can also be fitted in a number of positions in relation to the cavity, catering for the differing construction styles throughout the UK.
"Sturdy mechanical joint mouldings are available, although the new former can also be welded.
Purpose made and reusable accessories for bracing heads and corners are also available.
And, with an eye on the environment, all extruded items, including the head brace, are made from recycled PVC.
"These and other design features mean the new Spectus former is also arguably the most advanced and effective on the market.
Future-proofed against tightening housing legislation it's an ideal product for developers, house builders, fabricators and installers working towards zero-carbon homes.".
