Sotech makes a big impression at Little France

Sotech Optima hook-pin aluminium rainscreen panelling installed at University of Edinburgh's Queen's Medical Research Institute building, located in Little France.

Owning to the nature of the facility, the wall cladding was required to meet the requirements of Document J of the Building Regulations and Sotech worked closely with installers Lakesmere to ensure that the panels successfully provided a U value of just 0.30Wmk.

The building, designed by architects Boswell Mitchell and Johnson, features Sotech Optima rainscreen panels that 'wrap' into the window recesses, whilst the flue stacks have been attractively clad using hook-pin curved column panels.

Sotech also designed and manufactured fabricated curved fascias and bespoke bullnoses with interlocking soffit cassettes.

The Queen's Medical Research Institute houses over 600 staff and provides facilities for high quality research into the greater understanding of common diseases.

The Institute accommodates three centres for the study of Reproductive Biology, Cardiovascular Sciences and Inflammation Research.

The pa The Sotech Optima Hook-Pin rainscreen cladding system features integral structural support pins to the inside of the vertical panel edge enabling secret fixing to the carrier profile.

The result is a cosmetically flat, uniform facade with no visible fixings resulting from superior design and manufacturing techniques employed.
