STG shuts the door on social housing
project

Kitchens, bathrooms and hall ways were all refurbished and improved to bring them into line with achieving the Government's 2010 target for delivering homes that are of an acceptable, 'decent' standard.
In addition, significant alterations were made to the communal WC area and kitchen, a new door entry system was installed and a 'buggy park' was introduced in direct response to residents needs.
Nick Hancock, Project Manager at Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing, said: " The project has run smoothly and effectively and we are delighted with the results".
"We are now closer to achieving our long-term objective of creating a successful community - and more importantly have been able to ensure our tenants have 'decent' homes." The involvement of tenants was encouraged throughout and STG selected the project to launch its new Customer Care Scheme.
Tenants each received a pre-work letter informing them of what to expect, a customer care pack on work commencing with useful information and contact numbers and a thank you postcard, survey and GBP10 capital bond voucher on completion.
Charles Tweed, Business Development Director at STG, said: " When working in this sector in particular it is important to remember that the properties you are dealing with are more than just buildings, they are homes".
"We launched the Customer Care Scheme because we respect this and want tenants to feel confident, reassured and looked after - and the results have been very positive." Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing is a not for profit organisation set up by Kirklees Council to provide housing services.
Established in 2002, the organisation has delivered an investment programme of over GBP200m to bring council housing in the area up to the 'decent standard' target set by the Government.
Together with Kirklees Council, Kirklees Neighbourhood Housing has been awarded beacon status by the Government for its work in involving tenants in decision making.
