STG praised as project improves Bradford area

A Strategic Team Group (STG) product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team May 3, 2007

Strategic Team Group has been praised as the positive results of the cumulative phases of a six year agreement with Bradford Trident become evident.

Worth in excess of GBP10m, the partnership began in April 2001, shortly after Bradford Trident was founded with a view to delivering the New Deals for Communities programme across BD5 - primarily the Little Horton, Park Lane, Marsh Field and West Bowling areas.

Since then STG has worked with Bradford Trident to deliver a number of private sector housing improvement schemes including 'Warm, Dry and Safe', 'Home Improve', 'Matched Incentives' and 'Facelift Plus' etc...

During this time nearly 1,500 private sector homes have benefited from schemes including over 600 under 'Facelift Plus' and 250 via 'Matched Incentives'.

This has resulted in significant financial contributions from Bradford Council and over GBP650k from residents.

To accommodate the challenging work-load, STG brought in 60 additional trades people, many of whom were from the local NDC area.

The company also utilised its involvement with Youthbuild and Womenbuild by employing both young people and women apprentices - many of which are still with the company.

Vicky Newbould began working on the project when employed by STG through Womenbuild and has now been put forward for CITB-Constructionskills' Positive Image Campaign; and nominated to represent Bradford College in the Skillbuild Competition and the Guild of Bricklayers Competition this year.

Wayne Noteman, Housing Projects Manager at Bradford Trident, commented on the completion of the project:: "This has been a massive project that has really brought the community together".

"STG, Accent Regeneration, MNB and Bradford Trident have operated as one team and the success of this can be seen in both the improved aesthetics of the area and the significant change in atmosphere".

"We have been delighted at how well works have gone and at the amount of effort STG team members put into this to ensure it was a success".

"As a result I would not hesitate to recommend the company to others".

In recognition of the success in this ground breaking, community-led regeneration scheme the project has been locally and nationally acclaimed and was awarded the national NBC Housing Project of the Year in 2004, the RICS Best in Regeneration Scheme in 2005 and commended by Bradford Vision (LSP) in 2006.

Charles Tweed, Business Development Director at STG, said: " We were delighted to initially be selected to work with Bradford Trident and have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with the various schemes and projects".

"We are now proud of the work we have completed together and delighted with how successful the whole scheme has been to date.".
